The Unterlinden Floor Lamp is the latest addition to the Unterlinden Collection. It emerges from the suspension version, which was originally designed as a floating light source for a museum. It combines the nostalgia of an antique object with machine processing and high-performance technology. The concept was to design the smallest lampshade possible, a trumpet-shaped die-cast lamp head made from aluminium or brass that also serves as a diffuser for high-powered LED illumination.

Like in the suspension version, the lampshade has the characteristic raw materiality, ridged with traces of the milling process used to create the original wood molding. The underside is concave and highly polished to an almost mirror finish, emitting a soft, glare-free light.

The Unterlinden Floor Lamp was developed for the Volkshaus Basel Hotel in Basel, Switzerland.  It is height adjustable to fit the different needs in a hotel room. It can be used next to the table as a table light, but also at the sofa as a reading light.
